Sarah Cockle

Junior Pathfinder

First Nations Waste Minimization Program

Having been born and raised in Winnipeg, Sarah has always had a great appreciation for Manitoba. Many childhood road trips were spent exploring the province and visiting family in Snow Lake and Flin Flon. Growing up, Sarah’s passion for the environment only grew, ultimately leading her to complete a Bachelors of Environmental Studies from the University of Manitoba. Her studies have taught her the importance of respecting the environment, understanding how it’s intertwined with society, and continuing to follow the research being done to create change. Sarah’s previous work experience has been primarily in the aquatic sciences, so protecting Manitoba’s lakes is a large part of her enthusiasm for working in this field. Sarah has worked in both the prairie and arctic regions, from helping to protect Manitoba from Zebra Mussels & other invasive species, to working onboard a research vessel off the coast of Qikiqtarjuaq, NU. When she is not working, she loves reading, spending time outdoors, and being with friends.
