Bike Everywhere Month

Bike Everywhere Month 2025 will run from May 1st-31st and will be open to parents, schools, students and families.

Scroll through this post to learn more about what is happening for this year’s event, including some new fun things and a brand new activity kit!

Ideas for Participation

For those of you who may be new to Bike Everywhere Month, the purpose of the event is to get kids on bikes all month long for their health, the environment and to show how vibrant we can make our city. Don’t have a bike? Scooters work too! Not sure where to start?

Running errands by bike

Bike with your child to run an errand

Riding bikes to school

Bike to school with them, or if they are old enough, encourage them to bike by themselves!

Ride to fun places

Take them on a weekend bike ride to their favorite park

Practice the practical

Show them how to properly lock up a bike! Use this helpful resource from Bike Winnipeg

Teachers: Commute to school!

If you are a teacher, bike to school as well to show your students you are participating too!

New things for 2025

We've added some exciting new features and tools this year.

New kilometer thermometer/tracker

This year features a KM thermometer/tracker for individuals, families, classrooms and schools. Any participating students can submit how far they make it on the tracker and be entered to win a number of prizes.

Activity kit with survey

We also have an activity kit with a survey to determine how bike-friendly your community is. This is an awesome opportunity to get outside with your kids or students and help them examine their neighborhood through a critical lens!

Activity Worksheet

Finally we have a worksheet which asks students/kids where they love to bike and where they wish they could bike so we can envision a more bike-friendly Winnipeg together and use our voices to guide the future.

Loan a Lock Program

This year, we are reviving an exciting program from 2019! The Loan-a-Lock program provides the opportunity for schools to acquire their own high quality U-locks to lend out to students. We provide helpful resources to assist school administrations with this program.

Please note that we do have a limited amount of locks so we will close our request form as soon as we reach our maximum.

Exciting prizes

This year we have a new prize category for schools! Any school that submits a kilometre tracking sheet will be entered a very special educational prize.

Other awesome prizes that you can be entered to win include:

  • Tickets to Enigma Escapes
  • Uptown Alley Laser Tag
  • Admission to the Manitoba Museum.
  • A selection of games from Gameknight Games
  • A selection of books from McNally Robinson Booksellers
